(our last night in El Salvador, at Tesoro Beach Resort Costa Del Sol.) Beautiful beach, Incredible surf, absolutely terrible Hotel!, but the sunset made up for it.
We are home from our fascinating, busy, sometimes scary trip to El Salvador. We met everyone that we had made contacts with through our work here as foster parents. We formed strong ties with them, meeting them face to face, and experiencing how different their lives are to ours.
The security around their houses, and in their stores was unnerving. The El Salvadoreans are such open welcoming people, it amazed us that their houses, and personal property are so heavily guarded. They are not protecting themselves from foreigners, becuase there are not that many foreigners in ES, They are protecting themselves from themselves. It was hard to understand the level of fear and distrust that the average person lives with as compared to us Canadians.
On our second to last night we left our main memory card for our camera at a friends house that we had stayed overnight at! Fortunatley they have found it, and it is on its way to our home, but I have my fingers crossed hoping that it makes it. It will be very sad if we have lost all our still photos of an amazing experience.
We are so glad we went. The experience will forever enrich our lives, by how much it widend our perspective of our lives here. Coming home to this 'safe' 'clean' country has been exhilirating in itself.
